My tap seems to constantly be dripping?

Should a tap start to drip or let by, this will usually indicate that small debris has come between the ceramic disc and the cartridge. If you perform regular maintenance on your internal cartridge you will minimise the chances of this occurring. Once you have removed the cartridge soak in hot water, vinegar, or any descaling solution for approximately 1 hour, rinse under cold water and replace. We will suggest regular maintenance of this kind if you reside in a hard water area.

The water flow of my tap is very poor in comparison to what was previously installed.

Please do bear in mind that not all products will be suitable for all installations. You will find on our website and product brochure the guidelines of each products pressure which we have tested at its optimum performance. If you discover that the pressure in your home system is suitable for our product and still the product pressure is low before carrying our any maintenance to the cartridge, check the flexible tails for any possible blockage. Should you have to, remove the cartridge soak in hot water, vinegar, or any descaling solution for approximately 1 hour, rinse under cold water and replace. We will suggest regular maintenance of this kind if you reside in a hard water area.

Will my tap work if I have a low pressure system

You will find the majority of JTP products comfortably work with most household or any type of commercial system. But you will find that some High pressure (HP) products are designed and manufactured to work with high pressure systems only. Should you find products marked with LP or MP these products can all work with high pressure systems.

Please find our typical guideline below.

LP 0.2             Minimum pressure 0.2 bar

MP 0.5            Minimum pressure 0.5 bar

HP 1                Minimum pressure 1 bar

I have noticed over time the operation of my handle is becoming stiff, how can I resolve this issue.

Should your handle or lever operation become stiff or difficult to manoeuvre this would typically indicate that a build-up of limescale has formed over the cartridge.

You will find details on how to remove the cartridge of your particular tap either on the installation drawings given in the box of the tap, or you may find on our product maintenance video link on our website how to remove your cartridge. Should you not find the information and instructions you need please do give our friendly customer service team a call and they will help you resolve this issue.

I have a thermostatic valve in the wall and the shower head has started to leak?

Should you not find the information and instructions you need please do give our friendly customer service team a call and they will help you resolve this issue.

I have limescale building up all around my tap and shower head

Unfortunately, limescale has become a common issue in the UK, when limescale builds up around the tap handles, aerators, overhead shower nozzles and shower handles, this can inevitably cause blockages and the water can start to flow in different directions or block some of the holes in the shower head or shower handle. We advise to remove the limescale from the built-up areas, soak a microfiber cloth in hot water and vinegar and gently clean the limescale from the affected areas. Once you have cleaned off the limescale use cold water and remove any remaining scale.

My concealed shower valve seems to either be to hot or to cold, this is no mix in temperature.

If you find that your installed JTP shower valve is delivering you either extreme hot or extreme cold water temperature. This will indicate that your pipework has been installed the incorrect way. The hot and cold inlets are marked on the back body of the shower valve. We advise that you use a fully qualified plumber to install these products so that you do not run into this issue once your product is installed and tiled. Should you run into this issue even though the pipework has been installed correctly, please contact our friendly customer service team who will advise you further.

My concealed shower valve is only giving luke warm water, it is not getting hot enough?

All JTP shower valves are mixed blending valves, before installing please ensure that you install with balanced pressures. If your property is using cold water mains supplied and hot water through a combi boiler, you may experience an imbalance of pressures which exceeds 0.5 bar. Should this be the case we would advise that a pressure reducing valve be installed to the cold-water feed to the shower valve. The cold water in this instance should be brought inline with the same pressure that is being supplied from the combi boiler for the hot water.

If you find that this is not the case and the pressures are balanced from both sides, we advise the following maintenance check should be taken. If you go through the product maintenance instructions provided with the product. Isolate the water supply to the shower, and please remove the:

  1. Thermostatic cartridge.
  2. Non return valves.

Once you have removed the cartridge soak in hot water, vinegar, or any descaling solution for approximately 1 hour, rinse under cold water and replace. We will suggest regular maintenance of this kind if you reside in a hard water area.

I have a deck mounted bath shower mixer and the diverter does not seem to stay up on its own.

When installing a deck mounted bath shower mixer you will need to ensure that you have sufficient amount of pressure to hold up the diverter, this will need to checked before you purchase. To lock the diverter in place, pull the diverter knob out and twist clockwise to lock into position.

Water will still drip out of my tap after it has been turned off, is my tap working correctly.

A small amount of residual water can still drip from the tap after being fully turned off. This will only last a few seconds. The reason for this occurring is due to the tap simply draining itself until no water is left in the pipework.
